According to a report from ESPNcricinfo, star Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who was hurt in a terrible automobile accident last month, will likely be sidelined for the rest of 2023. The impact of the car crash has reportedly torn all three of Pant’s key knee ligaments, two of which have recently undergone reconstruction; surgery on the third is anticipated to take place in six weeks, according to the report citing the most recent medical update provided to the BCCI regarding the player.

The report also raised concerns about the cricketer’s condition ahead of the ODI World Cup at home in October-November by stating that he could be out of action for six months, which does not necessarily mean that he would miss the IPL.

Sourav Ganguly, a former BCCI president, recently declared that Pant would miss the IPL. The India star was seriously hurt after his Mercedes SUV was involved in an early December 30 incident north of New Delhi. He was saved by a bus driver and conductor after the automobile caught fire. The annual, two-month event, which will start in late March or early April and feature some of the biggest names in international basketball, is captained by Pant for the Delhi Capitals team.

According to broadcaster Sports Today, Ganguly, who is expected to join Delhi Capitals as director of cricket, Rishabh Pant won’t be available for the IPL.
