According to those who are aware of the situation, a bomb threat has been made to a plane leaving Moscow for Goa. When the threat was sent to the Director of Goa Airport (Dabolim) via email, it had not yet entered Indian airspace. Officials added that the Azur Air plane with 247 passengers has been diverted to an Uzbek airport.

This is the second time in recent weeks that a plane headed for Goa has been diverted due to such a panic. A bomb threat forced the same airline to divert another charter flight earlier this month to Jamnagar in Gujarat. There were 236 people on board the plane when it made an emergency landing. The Indian authorities informed the Embassy of the alleged bomb scare on the Azur Air flight from Moscow to Goa. An emergency landing has taken place at Jamnagar Indian Air Force Base for the aircraft. Everyone aboard is protected. Within hours of the incident being reported on January 9, a statement issued by the Russian embassy stated, “The authorities are conducting a thorough inspection of the aircraft.” After the call appeared to be a hoax, the plane was allowed to take off the following day.

A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Pune was delayed before takeoff at the national capital’s Indira Gandhi International Airport just a few days earlier after the control room received a call about the presence of a bomb on the flight. According to a CISF official, the Airport Operation Control Centre (AOCC) informed the Security Operations Control Centre (SOCC) of the bomb threat and established a Bomb Threat Assessment Committee.

However, a 24-year-old man was later detained by police for making the fictitious call to assist his friends in spending more time with two women they had met while on vacation in Manali.
