As part of a $2.5 billion security package, the United States will for the first time send Stryker combat vehicles to Ukraine.

Armored vehicles, rockets to Ukraine

The second-largest package ever announced by the United States was made public a day before an international coalition meets in Germany to discuss additional aid for Ukraine. Since the war started nearly a year ago, the US has given Ukraine $26.7 billion in security aid.

“The US likewise keeps on energizing the world to help Ukraine. In a statement, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “We have seen incredible solidarity from our allies and partners, including at today’s Ukraine Defense Contact Group, and we applaud the more than 50 countries who have come together to make significant contributions to support Ukraine.”

The latest assistance also includes additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), eight Avenger air-defense systems, tens of thousands of artillery rounds and about 2,000 anti-armor rockets, the Defense Department said.
